This page is for my wife Linda who made my dream come true |
In 1981 my serious side of racing began as my wife Linda decided she wanted to see what this race thing was all about. She ran half the season against the men and finished 9th in final points. If not for her business career taking off I may have never gotten to drive again ! |
Linda behind the wheel of her street stock in 1981 at Antioch Speedway |
We took 2 years off from racing to buy our home and returned to racing in the NASCAR late model divsion at Antioch in 1984. This car I built was originally for Linda, but she surpised me with a new fire suit and I drove this car 30 times in 1984 & 85 |
1985 in turn one at Antioch Speedway during qualifying |
In 1986 we decided (or should I say Linda did) to try our hand at Sprint cars. All the cars I had driven on and off in the last 11 years were Stock car based. Boy what a big change. Lighter weight, more horse power, quicker reacting could I handel this? Well the answer was yes. We ran the old Baylands Raceway Park in 86 and finished 4th in points in their 360 limited class. |
Though the years we're had a few different Sprint Cars, here's a some of them. |
Trying harder............ |
Here's Linda in our first Sprint car in 1986. If most of you don't know by now LOK stands for Linda O'Keefe. |
Our last winged car in 1995. We tried to make it a show car. It didn't stay this shiny during the season. |
The BIGGGGG move............. |
In 1995 Linda and I wanted try something we never dreamed of... the USAC Silver Crown divsion. This is a big step up from the half mile or smaller tracks we usally run, for these cars run on MILE dirt and paved ovals across the country ! |
We rolled our 1995 Beast Silver Crown car out of the garage in Feb. of 95. It was a coil-over car which was something I hadn't used before. We ran this car till Oct. of 1996. |
In 1997 we built this beautiful car. A Competition Welding chassis, with a Foxco built motor. Here I am at Pikes Peak International Raceway. It was the tracks' first offical race and the Silver Crown were the headline divsion. |
Well lets say Don's moto was "if it rolled it raced".That's why we won't see pictures from 1974 to 1981. |
In 1998 we stayed closer to home and didn't run any SC events. We ran with the NCMA , a local modified group. We plan to run Antioch Speedways' Spec Sprint class as well as several SC events in 1999. |
LOK ENTERPRISES RACE TEAM |
In 1999 Don Martin and I started the Wingless Spec Sprint class at Antioch. I finished 3rd in points and won 3 main events. Now that my health is better the next step is back to some SC shows and to run the USAC Western Sprint Series |
